Tampa Magazine - Discovering Tampa Through the Eyes of Decurated Interiors

In March 2021, I posted a photo on my instagram of the Tampa Magazine - Home Edition with the caption, “posting this here so I can look back on the time I manifested a feature in a local mag.” Well y’all…here we are three years later!

A few months ago, my friend, client and one of Tampa Magazine’s own, Women to Watch, Dr. Brittany, invited me as a plus one to a Women In Business networking event sponsored by the magazine. I put on a cute dress, packed some business cards and made it a mission to meet at least five new people. One of the people happened to be Shawna Wiggs, Group Publisher for Tampa Mag.

We struck up a conversation about the event, our looks and upcoming plans for the magazine which included launching a home focused September issue a la Vogue. IYKYK. I made sure to exchange business cards and mention Decurated Interiors for future collaboration as Tampa Magazine grows that audience. Imagine my excitement when they emailed me two months later for a contribution!

Pro Tip: As I do after any networking event, I follow the Instagrams of everyone I meet and send nice-meeting-you follow up messages with a blurb of what we discussed to leave the door open. Shout out to Silk Sonic.

Tampa Magazine just released their inaugural Home Design Issue September 2024 and yours truly was chosen as a feature. I shared a bit of my story and Tampa Bay knowledge alongside other local designers, builders and artisans. The focus of this issue is “emphasizing the importance of transforming your living space into a home that reflects who you are and enhances your quality of life,” which is a principle I preach regularly.

In the article, I talk about my journey from Newport News to Tampa and how this vibrant city has influenced me and how my years in corporate retail and furniture merchandising shaped my love for creating spaces that truly reflect who you are. I also share my experiences as I discovered some local gems—from amazing restaurants to beautiful museums and stunning beaches. If you’re looking for some recommendations, check out the article here .

Next up? A local design project feature in Tampa Magazine. Mark my words.

A huge thank you to Tampa Magazine for this opportunity! It’s such an honor to be recognized in the community that helped me realize my talent beyond fulfilling someone else’s dreams. I’m excited to keep sharing my love for interior design and helping the people in between turn their homes into beautiful, functional spaces.
